Checks
Checks should be made payable to Jonathan’s Circle and mailed to:
Treasurer, Jonathan’s Circle
2360 Irish Lane, Apt. 26
Clearwater FL 33762-3137
Please enclose your printed name and address either on the check or with it. Please mark it “Charitable Donation” or “Gift” on the memo line.
Donations Online
You may give on our home page and directly through the DONATE button. You may either choose to pay your donation through PayPal or directly through your card of choice. We appreciate your adding an additional 3% to your gift to cover the cost of the transaction. PayPal does allow you to specify your shipping (ground) address as well as your email address. Depending on the size of the gift, we need both in order to acknowledge your gift as a charitable donation to a non-profit organization, as is required by US law.
Donations through Zelle
Zelle is a way to donate in a direct, fast, easy way. If you have a Zelle account linked to your bank, you can send money to friends, family, and others provided they have a Zelle account (we do).
Our account is under the name rledesma@jonathanscircle.org. Donations go directly into Jonathan’s Circle’s bank account.
If you choose to do this, be aware that we need to have not only your email address but also your shipping (ground) address, as we are required by law to acknowledge in writing gifts that are
larger than $250. We strongly prefer to acknowledge all gifts and normally acknowledge gifts smaller than $250 by email with a notation to the giver to print it out and save it as a paper record
for tax purposes. Since we cannot know your contact information from the Zelle transaction record, please send a separate email to rledesma@jonathanscircle.org giving us both your email address and your shipping (ground) address, specifying the date and amount of your contribution.
The advantage of giving through Zelle is that, unlike PayPal, there is no charge or fee for the transaction.
- Other Ways to Give
Securities
If you have held securities for more than a year, you may find that your gift will provide a twofold tax benefit, creating an income-tax deduction as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would have been due on their sale.
Bequests
Bequests are a meaningful way to inspire future generations of men in the vision and values of Jonathan’s Circle. You can designate a specific dollar amont or asset, or a percentage of your estate, or the residue of your estate after all specific bequests have been accomplished. The bequest is the simplest means of making a gift at death. Your attorney may be able to accomplish this addition to your will through a simple codicil. The following is sample bequest language for you to share with your attorney: “I give and bequeath to Jonathan’s Circle, a District of Columbia charitable corporation, or its successor, [insert Federal Tax Identification Number (we can supply upon request)] the sum of $____________ or ____% of my residuary estate for its unrestricted purposes.”
Please always remember to consult with an attorney when contemplating a bequest.
Retirement Assets
If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 directly from your IRA. These gifts can meet all or part of an IRA required minimum distribution. Contact your IRA representative. We provide this sample letter for your use in contacting your IRA administrator or representative.
Life Insurance
Jonathan’s Circle can accept gifts of life insurance if you choose to name it as the beneficiary and owner of the policy. Fully paid-up policies that are no longer needed for their original purpose can be excellent planned gifts.
Donor Advised Funds
You may have created a donor advised fund in order to facilitate your charitable giving. A donor advised fund often allows its donor to designate one or more charities to benefit from any
unspent funds at his or her death. Although this does not generate any additional tax benefit for the donor, it is an opportunity to advance the individual’s final charitable wishes and provide for Jonathan’s Circle.
